To find the famous "Millionaire’s Mile" simply locate the Hillsboro Lighthouse. That shouldn’t be difficult, it’s the brightest light on the Eastern Seaboard of the United States marking the Hillsboro Inlet and the northernmost point of the Florida Reef.
The offshore waters are Turquoise. The beach is soft white silica sand.
The reefs teem with lobsters and tropical fish. Beyond, the reefs, the Gulf Stream current is home to Marlin, Sailfish and Dolphin.
The "Millionaire’s Mile" or "Hillsboro Mile" of mansions begin north of the very private Hillsboro Club and extends north for 3.2 miles along AIA.
Why is this area so special? The estates extend from the beach, across AIA to the Intracoastal Waterway. In other words, one can own both a home directly on the ocean and own a dock on the deep waters of the Intracoastal Waterway! With the exception of Manalapan, near Palm Beach, Hillsboro is the only area in South East Florida that offer such ocean to waterway properties.
The entire town has only 2,000 residents, and many of these residents are in town only for the winter.
From Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway the width of the island is only 900 feet, just enough for a world-class estate in an address with a royal heritage. The Earl of Hillsboro was granted the land by the English Crown during Florida’s short period of English possession.
